THE OBJECTIVE of the Mendocino County Media Forum is to encourage local folks to participate in local media, to promote investigative reporting, and to protect free speech and public disclosure.

Note from the Editor

The Media Forum was born out of my experience at Mendocino College (1996-99) and my more recent experience as board member at KZYX. The first three issues highlight the prospects for community control at KZYX. Issue 4 introduces Gabrielle Welford as coeditor of these pages and Issue 4 and 5 cover developments at Ukiah's new low power FM station, KMEC and at its parent organization, the MEC. Issue 6 are candid interviews with Alicia Littletree and Dan Hamburg. Issue 7 returns to KZYX and sudden changes from management and an increasingly opaque board.

Your thoughts are welcome, as are submissions for publication.

Issue #4 also introduces Gabrielle Welford as coeditor of these pages.
